About the job

The Director will be responsible for the continued development and growth of the organisation, overseeing the delivery of the Triple Act Theatre & Arts – Youth Theatre & Community Arts Programme, all other ongoing activities and for ensuring the organisation’s sustainability.

Triple Act Theatre & Arts has recently rebranded, and we are due to launch our new Youth Theatre & Community Arts Programme after successfully securing funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, North Ayrshire Council and various key funding organisations.

Our new programme, developed in line with our brand strategy, provides opportunities for people of all ages living in the Three Towns and across North Ayrshire to participate in Arts activities and education.

We are now looking for an individual with the skills, drive and enthusiasm to help the organisation to build on our initial successful programmes, grow our work and become sustainable in the long term.

Whilst this position is currently offered on the basis of a 27 hour per week commitment, it is envisaged that this post will become fulltime. The timing of this will be dependent on successful fundraising by the postholder in conjunction with the Board.

In an area of Scotland with low cultural participation, this role is vital to the success and growth of our work so that we can reach, involve and inspire more of that community.

 Job Overview

The Development Manager’s role and objectives are:

Operational:

  • To ensure the successful delivery of the Triple Act Theatre & Arts – Youth Theatre & Community Arts Programme. Also other funded programmes in schools and the community.
  • To lead and motivate staff teams, developing team and personal skills and overall organisational effectiveness.
  • Ensure effective financial and budgetary oversight and management.

Developmental:

  • To further develop a strategy to grow capabilities and income to make Trile Act sustainable over the long term.
  • To develop and implement a revised marketing strategy to raise the profile of Triple Act, programmes and Arts Awards capabilities.
  • To nurture and grow engagement and participation in Triple Act community theatre and related artistic development in North Ayrshire.
  • To find and create opportunities for expansion and growth by building effective relationships with local partners, schools, arts organisations and funders.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To lead staff in the development and implementation of the artistic programme across all projects.
  • To deliver on the brand strategy, ensuring that all organisational activities are in line with the strategic mission, vision, values and objectives of Triple Act Theatre & Arts.
  • To be the custodian of the brand, ensuring that the visual identity is used correctly and consistently throughout all internal and external communications.
  • To plan and deliver targeted marketing campaigns that will increase engagement and brand awareness within the local community, stakeholders and the wider performing arts community..
  • To develop ways to grow participation and increase membership within the local community.
  • To maintain and develop strong partnerships with local schools, North Ayrshire Council and other cultural / local organisations.
  • To develop income generation [core and project] and a funding strategy to ensure that Triple Act Theatre & Arts sustainability.
  • To be responsible for staff supervision and the development and implementation of sound, compliant HR processes and policies, risk management, GDPR and PVG compliance
  • To strategically oversee the budgets and financial reporting to the Board and funders

 

Personal Specification

Essential

  • A confident, motivated self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude, able to lead a young organisation at a key stage of its growth.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading/participating on fundraising applications.
  • Ability to organise, lead and manage a small staff team.
  • Ability to prioritise and efficiently manage workloads.
  • An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
  • Ability to set, manage and report on budgets
  • An understanding of Companies house and OSCR policies compliances.
  • Management of HR issues including employee recruitment.
  • An existing network of relationships with similar organisations, social enterprises, support agencies or arts funders.
  • PVG registered or eligible to become a member of the scheme.

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a community arts organisation.
  • Experience of working in a highly deprived area.
  • Working knowledge of North Ayrshire and community partnership building. 

Financial details

  • Salary: £30000 pro rata [=£24000 for a 27 hour week]
  • Hours: Flexible (27 hours). We are currently working remotely, normally the role would be based in our office in Ardrossan. As some of the work can be done remotely, we can offer a mix of office based and flexible working.
  • Contract: Permanent. Three month probationary period. Three month notice thereafter
  • Holiday Entitlement: 20 days plus 10 public holiday (pro rata) ; Pension: 3% employers’ contribution.
